2025-2026
Committees
Collaborate
Committees are interest groups that focus on specific projects and explore shared passions within the field of psychology. Anyone is welcome to join a committee, even if you're not yet a member of Psi Chi or the Psychology Club. However, we do encourage regular committee members to become part of the club to stay more connected and involved in all the exciting opportunities we offer! Our current committees include Research, Psi Beta Day, Pre-Health, Journal, Community Service, Business, Induction, and Mental Health.

Research Committee
Heads: Ella Morris & Disha Chandranath
Our goal as Research Committee is to provide opportunities to gain research experience. In past years, research committee has designed and collected data for various research questions with the goal of presenting in conferences in the spring. We provide a space for those passionate or curious about psychological research to collaborate. And, as an active member of the club you also gain priority for travel to the WPA conference hosted in Tacoma, WA this spring.
Alongside welcoming back our returning and newcoming members, we are excited to announce that Christianna Royse, a grad student working with Dr. Harris, will be helping us this year!
If you are interested in getting involved, start by joining the discord!
Psi Beta Day Committee
Heads: Aiden Factor & Samira Ruiz Juarez
Psi Beta is the community college counterpart of Psi Chi. Psi Beta Day is an exciting event where Psi Beta members visit UCSD to meet the Psychology department, learn about resources, and explore opportunities for transferring. This committee is dedicated to planning Psi Beta Day to warmly welcome potential incoming transfer students and provide personalized guidance to help them feel supported.
-
Organizes engaging activities and events for visiting Psi Beta members.
-
Collaborates with the Psychology department to highlight academic and social opportunities.
-
Creates a welcoming environment to ease the transition for transfer students.
If you'd like to take part in making this day possible, join us today!

Journal Committee
Heads: Autumn Fischer & James Cantrell
Journal Committee compiles, reviews, and publishes articles in our Journal of Undergraduate Psychological Research. In doing so, we aim to recognize the work of our fellow undergraduate students. Committee members attend meetings, review articles, oversee editing, design journal graphics, contribute/solicit articles, meet with professors, and utilize insight from our advisors. Everyone is welcome!

We just published our journal for 2024 - 2025:

Business Committee
Head: Minju Kim
Business Committee is open to anyone interested in networking and collaborating with organizations and businesses through the lens of business psychology! In the past year, we have formed connections with Melody Bloom, an online clothing business, and CityHope, an organization based in Georgia that helps refugees. We have held meetings to provide feedback on Melody Bloom's website and are currently finishing up designing a new website for CityHope! Members can gain hands-on experience in contacting businesses, web design, formulating and presenting professional feedback, and much more!

Community Service Committee
Heads: Jaynne Quezada & Aditi Prakash
The Community Service Committee collaborates with various local organizations around San Diego to uplift and support those within our community. It is our goal to create positive change across San Diego while giving committee members opportunities to engage in fulfilling volunteer experiences. In the past, the committee has volunteered with the Elementary Institute of Science, the San Diego Food Bank, and the San Diego Rescue Mission. This year, the committee hopes to expand our partnerships with local organizations and provide our members with diverse volunteer opportunities both on and off campus.

Committee members play an active role by participating in weekly meetings, brainstorming and planning service projects, and engaging in volunteer events. All students, regardless of major, are welcome. If you’d like to join the Community Service Committee, join our Discord or contact one of our committee heads!
Induction Committee
Heads: Maxon Jin & Joshua Joslin
At the end of each school year, we hold an Induction Ceremony to:
-
Recognize members that were newly inducted into Psi Chi
-
Officially transition from the old board to the new board
-
Acknowledge members that achieved distinguished statuses
-
Celebrate the club's accomplishments throughout the year
This is our biggest event of the year and takes a lot of planning. The more hands we have to help us plan things such as catered food, themed decorations, and everything in between, the better it will turn out to be! It's a great way to get involved in the club, make friends, and create something memorable together. Whether you have prior experience with event planning or not, you are welcome to join us. We typically begin planning for this event in the Winter Quarter.

Pre-Health Committee
Head: Jonathan Altamirano
The Pre-Health Committee is designed to explore the intersectionality between psychology and healthcare. From clinical psychology, social work, nursing to neurology, our goal is to educate and expose members to the many professions in healthcare that psychology can extend into. We hope you’ll join us for any of our upcoming information discussions, advising workshops, instructional sessions, and activities both on and off campus. In the past, we've arranged guest speakers like child psychiatrists as well as mental health first aid training for all of PCPC, and are looking to build off of that with the help of our committee in the future. Whether members are studying premed, counseling, clinical psychology, or social psychology, we are open and inclusive to anyone interested!
Mental Health Committee
Head: Miles Tobitt
The goal of Mental Health Committee is to introduce the career path of clinical work for those less interested in the research-oriented career pathways. Everyone is welcome to join, especially those looking to go into career paths focused with working directly with others in clinical settings. Members can gain valuable insight as to what it takes to go into this field, experience talking with others, and to meet other like-minded people like you! We hope to organize events, activities, and have insightful discussions about mental health and the mental health field.
